Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Due to recent market shifts toward zero emission vehicles and Volgren’s strong focus on the development of innovative new bus solutions and processes. The Manufacturing Engineering department is looking to build upon a strong manufacturing team.
The purpose of this role is to plan, direct and coordinate projects. Modification and maintenance of current and new processes. Manage and plan the manufacturing activities focused on continuous improvements and cost savings.
The right candidate will supplement Volgren’s Manufacturing Engineering team while supporting the Queensland production team. This is a junior position and newly graduated engineers with 1-2 years’ experience are encouraged to apply for this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards
Evaluate new production machines and processes considering electric vehicles (EV), hybrid, and diesel buses
Inspecting plants and machinery to ensure optimum performance is maintained with a focus on Lean manufacturing
Foster good working relationships with factory floor leadership and the workforce
Participate in process audits to ensure adherence to manufacturing process standards
Develop and maintain regular communication and reporting on project, activity status, milestones, and barriers
Creation and maintenance of process related procedures/forms and documents
Create and maintain process-related procedures, forms, and documents
Integration Event completion (Bus build hours meet standards and resources in available time)
Analysing workforce utilization, facility layout, operational data and production schedules, costs to determine optimum worker and equipment efficiencies
COMPETENCIES:
Safety focused on all aspects of role and factory floor
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
General computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, SharePoint etc.)
Understanding of manufacturing processes
Excellent eye for detail and dedication to accuracy
Able to work autonomously and/or as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communications skills, from shop floor to management
Jig/Fixture design and assembly
SolidWorks and AutoCAD
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Production engineering (or equivalent)
1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment will be highly regarded

This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test
