Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

Due to recent market shifts toward zero emission vehicles and Volgren’s strong focus on the design and development of innovative new bus solutions – the Product Engineering Department is looking to build upon a strong design team.

The purpose of this role is to produce efficient, creative vehicle designs which meet customer expectations, satisfy regulatory and safety requirements to professional engineering standards, and maintain Volgren's reputation.

The right candidate will supplement Volgren’s Electrical Engineering resource capacity, producing design packages and BoMs for fabrication and assembly departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product Development
  • Conceptual Design and Design Definition
  • Production Monitoring and Support
  • Engagement in Continuous Improvement activities
  • Maintenance of Regulatory Compliance 
  • General bus programming

COMPETENCIES:

  • Problem Solving and Decision-making skills
  • Competency with 3d CAD software (Solidworks, Autocad)
  • General Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc,)
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Processes and engineering best practices and methodologies
  • Ability to work as part of a team

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • This position is suitable for a graduate
  • Exposure or experience in a manufacturing environment or Bus industry will be highly regarded
  • Practical/hands-on electrical wiring knowledge/experience will be beneficial

Desired Skills and Experience

This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test
